There’s a document about Jean on TV right now and basically he’s saying that he doesn’t really have much hopes of pursuing his carreer in the US. First of all because of his basic English skills. And also because he feels like he’s got more freedom in France concerning his acting. He doesn’t like to be politically correct in his everyday life and in the movies he’s in. The French humour and attitude is apparently not so appreciated in the US.
Unlike Marion Cotillard, he’s not really into the “American dream/pursuit of happiness” thing, even though he thinks what she achieved is great. Also, Jean was invited to hand an Oscar last year, but he refused because he doesn’t feel comfortable at this kind of ceremony.
